THE WARP OF PURE FUN LTMCD 2378 £10
Originally released on Crepuscule in 1985, The Warp of Pure Fun was Paul's second solo album, and remains his best known (and biggest selling) long player. Glossily produced with former Associate Alan Rankine, it contains no less than four classic singles in Heaven Help You Now, Love Eternal, Big Blue World and The Only Truth, the latter produced by Bernard Sumner of New Order and Donald Johnson (A Certain Ratio). The seven bonus tracks include a lively version of Suicide's biker epic Ghost Rider, on which Paul is joined by former Josef K cohort Malcolm Ross, plus several b sides and rare cuts. Previously released on CD in Japan only, with no bonus tracks, Warp has been fully remastered, and the booklet includes detailed sleevenotes. Full tracklist: Silent Motion, Heaven Help You Now, Love Eternal, This Dying Flame, Sense of Fun, Scare Me, Big Blue World, The Only Truth, One Lifetime Away, Love and War, Ghost Rider, Endless Song, Shining Hour, Trust, Dangerous Life, World Raw.
Reviews: "Haig tapped into the dance zeitgeist, swapped Oxfam for Gaultier and allied his croon to the emergent electro wave. Excellent singles, plus seven extra examples of Haig's anguished android funk pop" (Uncut, 11/03); "Arguably still his finest solo recording. Haig's knack for heady melody coupled with enigmatic lyrics and that wonderfully aloof delivery remain gloriously intact, and is coaxed into wonderful shapes by ex-Associate Alan Rankine. The fact that Warp is also heavy on the shoulda-been-huge singles quota also helps significantly. Warp still takes some beating 18 years on and makes magnificent rubble of the theory that there were no superb pop albums released during the excessively naff mid-1980s" (Whisperin' & Hollerin', 10/03); "A consistent wad of pop, Haig has once more opted to give it electronified pop with wit, wild statements and jaunty boxes of guitars" (NME, 11/85);

RHYTHM OF LIFE / NEW YORK REMIX LTMCD 2408 £10
Rhythm of Life was originally released in 1983 and recorded in New York and London by renowned producer Alex Sadkin. This collection of nine polished electro-funk cuts features stellar guest musicians such as Bernie Worrell (Parliament/Funkadelic), Anton Fier (Feelies/Golden Palominos), and Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins). RoL includes no less than four singles, and the standout track Adoration (originally written as a Josef K song). The five bonus tracks are taken from the 1984 mini album New York Remix. The CD runs for 70 minutes, and features a full artist biography as well as the original Benoit Hennebert artwork. Full tracklist: Heaven Sent, Never Give Up (Party Party), Adoration, Stolen Love, Don't Rush In, Blue For You, In The World, Justice, Work Together, Heaven Sent (Remix), Blue For You (Remix), Justice (Remix), Never Give Up (Remix), Stolen Love (Remix). For sale in Benelux only.

COINCIDENCE VS. FATE LTMCD 2380 £10
Originally released in 1991, Coincidence Vs Fate was Paul's fourth solo album, and ranks among his best and most adventurous work. Variously produced by US dance luminaries Curtis Mantronik and Lil' Louis, as well as British production team The Chimes, the material veers from chilled dance (Flight X) to slinky fidget latin (My Kind) via a jawdropping cover of the lush Suicide ballad Surrender, as deceptively surreal as any David Lynch movie. The 3 bonus tracks include remixes of the singles I Believe In You, Flight X and an update of Heaven Help You Now. The CD has been fully remastered, features new cover art, and the booklet includes detailed sleevenotes. Full tracklist: I Believe in You, Flight X, Born Innocence, My Kind, Si Senorita, Right on Line, Out of Mind, Surrender, Coincidence vs. Fate, Stop and Stare, The Originator, 1959, Flight X (Long Flight Mix), I Believe In You (mix), Heaven Help You Now (93 remix).
Reviews: "What does the frontman with an arty Scottish post-punk outfit have in common with a New York breakbeak technician? Plenty, as it turns out. CvF mainly comprises computerised soul, but Haig's robo-vox perfectly suits the hi-tech bounce of Right On Line and Out of Mind. Four stars." (Uncut, 11/03); "An album of sensurround warmth and inspired dance moves" (NME, 11/90); "A return to the electronic dance roots of his earlier obsessions, which have finally come of age" (Melody Maker, 9/90); "Confident and diverse" (The Scotsman, 9/90); "The album's absolute crowning glory is surely Haig's unbelievable Spector-meets-David-Lynch treatment of Suicide's already magnificent Surrender. It's the very essence of sophisticated, filmic sadness and sounds utterly timeless" (Whisperin & Hollerin', 11/03)

CINEMATIQUE VOL 1 LTMCD 2309 £10
The original and best of the Cinematique CD series by Paul, first released by LTM in October 1991. Cinematique (Vol 1) is loosely based around the concept of incidental music for imaginary films. The disc is split into three different suites, each conveying a different mood and atmosphere. The first, City of Fun, evokes sounds and images of the best Sixties espionage thrillers: fast cars, faster women and untipped cigarettes. The second, Lagondola, offers a cool, ambient piano cycle. The third, Flashback, offers classic electronica which drops from warm to chilling. Several 'found' scenarios are included in the booklet, which also features the superb original artwork by Neil Jones. Full tracklist: Black Veil & Gold, City of Fun, Somewhere In Between, The Hunting Party, Crime Interlude, City of Fun (Slight Return), Lagondola 1, Beauty, Highland, Deception, Intimacy, Lagondola 2, Flashback, Eastworld, In-Flight Entertainment, Oil.
Reviews: "Divided almost symetrically into bright and ethereal piano-led pieces which nod towards the icy elegance of Erik Satie, and the dreamy sound dramas of Angelo Badalamenti, and harder-edged jazz-flecked themes whose spiritual home is a monochrome 1950s film noir" (Q Magazine, 11/91); "It works, basically. As an idea, as an album, as various scores to films I'd love to see. Wonderful" (Select, 11/91); "Expect him to be catapulted to cultural icon status" (NME, 1/92); "Haig clearly knows what he's about. He has a good ear for a phrase, a good technical command of his electronic resources, and a sophisticated sense of conventional orchestration" (Option (USA), 2/92); "Never less than gripping, and rivals Haig's work on his more song-based albums. Everything here merits attention purely sonically, and Cinematique works beautifully as an aural operation" (Whisperin' & Hollerin', 1/04);

THEN AGAIN LTMCD 2366 £10
Then Again collects together 15 rarities, remixes and unreleased tracks recorded between 1982 and 1998. These include The Executioner, his rare 1984 collaboration with Cabaret Voltaire; the extended Man Parrish remix of The Only Truth; a song written in 1987 for the late, great Billy Mackenzie, Reach the Top, and two intriguing collaborations with Fini Tribe, one of which is a cover of cult dirge The Electrician by Scott Walker. Other well-loved singles which appear here in remixed form include Love Eternal, Heaven Help You Now and Blue For You. Other stand-out cuts include Chance, one of Paul's few solo numbers which offers a backward nod towards the sharp, angular guitars of Josef K. Then Again runs for 74 minutes and contains a detailed artist biography in the booklet. The packaging incorporates original designs by Peter Saville and Benoit Hennebert. Full tracklist: Time, Chance, Blue For You (Interference Mix), Change of Heart, Fear and Dancing, The Executioner, Love Eternal (12"), This Dying Flame (12"), The Only Truth (US Remix), Heaven Help You Now (1990 Version), Reach the Top, Swinging For You, The Electrician, The Shining, Psycho San Jose.
Reviews: "An opportune moment for key influence Paul Haig to show his chisel-cheeked face. A romantic and spirited performer" (Q Magazine, 6/04); "A set of ice-cool white funk electro ditties that wouldn't sound out of place spun down the local electroclash emporium. As primitively retro as some of the beats sound, there's some genuine dancefloor pioneering at play, while the most recent material here, two tracks recorded with dub noirists Fini Tribe, are the most accomplished" (Glasgow Herald, 4/04); "An essential item - Then Again may be 'merely' a collection of crumbs from under the master's table, but the quality still puts the competition to shame" (Whisperin' and Hollerin', 05/04); "Chance is untouchably brilliant" (The Big Takeover, 9/04)
