"It was great while it lasted, felt like we lived in the centre of the universe. One minute we was all drinking cider and smoking weed in a flat in Blackley, the next we was drinking champagne and dancing E'd-up on a helipad in Tokyo. With us being so young, we never really got the chance to fulfil our true potential. But with the reissue of Chicken Rhythms on LTM there's a new audience of young people discovering what a great group we were"
(Warren 'Dermo' Dermody, Q Magazine, March 2006)

Originally released by Factory Records in June 1991, Northside's debut album was produced by Ian Broudie (Lightning Seeds, Three Lions) and features three classic 'Madchester' singles/anthems in My Rising Star, Shall We Take a Trip? and Take 5. On this reissue Chicken Rhythms has been digitally remastered, and features detailed liner notes and new artwork (still by Central Station) and includes no less than six bonus tracks taken from non-album singles and overseas editions. 16 tracks, 71 minutes of music. Full tracklist: Take 5, Weight of Air, Funky Munky, A Change is on it's Way, Yeah Man, Tour de World, Wishful Thinking, Shall We Take a Trip, Who's To Blame, Practise Makes Perfect, My Rising Star (12"), Moody Places (12"), Tour De World (live), Yeah Man (live), Who's To Blame (instrumental), My Rising Star (instrumental).
Reviews: "Manages to supply at least as much period charm as anything by their Madchester contemporaries" (Q Magazine, 1/2006); "Weight of Air is a quality slice of jangle pop, while Tour De World, Practise Makes Perfect and Who's To Blame prove that they could cut the mustard with a tight funk sound. The urge to indulge in some strange monkey-style dancing could well ensue" (Leonard's Lair, 12/2005); "Surprisingly breezy and pleasant these days. Indeed without the crushing weight of expectation, tracks like Weight of Air (with its rolling congas and gliding basslines) and Funky Munky are strangely infectious. Wishful Thinking, meanwhile, is blissed-out and luxuriously balmy, and Practice Makes Perfect suggests they understood a few things about urgency and purpose" (Whisperin' & Hollerin', 1/2006)
