The first volume in our acclaimed archive series, this CD set runs for 74 minutes and features some of the best known period songs and sound recordings of the First World War era. The recordings are chiefly British, and include patriotic songs, marches, descriptive sketch and actuality material. Recording dates are as given below. All selections have been sympathetically digitally remastered using CEDAR, and the booklet features detailed historical and recording notes by James Hayward.
